Beach Clean Port Eynon 28-03-09

This was our first beach clean of the year for our Sea Conservation group and what a glorious Spring day it was with plenty of sunshine after a miserable week!

Around 20 of us turned up at Port Eynon beach car park at 10.30am , this was quite a task in itself as the clocks went forward one hour in the night (British Summer Time). Group Shot
Rubbish Last year at Rhossilli beach we had over 30 black bags of rubbish, plus plastic drums etc. and were expecting the same today. I am happy to say that this beach did not live up to our expectations, with around 18 bags collected and a fair bit of walking done by all!

Most of the items collected were of a plastic nature, bottle tops , fishing line, rope etc. A 6’’ knife was found by one of the children in our group and Glyn found a Divers BCD Hose, it seems that not all the diving fraternity has the same frame of mind as us.

After the beach clean followed a well earned lunch from the chip shop followed by a visit to the local pub for liquid refreshment. At the pub
A weary Paul One thing we learned about beach cleaning. Start picking at the furthest point away and walk back!...those bags get heavy!
